MAC Studio Fix Soft Matte Foundation Stick // The August Review

MAC Studio Fix Soft Matte Foundation Stick

I had received a voucher for MAC for Christmas and I genuinely wasn't looking to buy a foundation but when I saw this, I thought, having got on so well with the stick foundation by makeup revolution maybe this would give me that little extra coverage. I usually find MAC one of my go to's for nights out or celebrations, so I am surprised to say this is a good go to for day to day use.
The product description says:
"Create an immaculate and enviable visage with MAC Studio Fix Soft Matte Foundation Stick. The Initially creamy formula won't congeal of gather on the skin, making cakey complexions a thing of the past. Available in 33 different shades, the stick-based applicator ensures easy administration as it glides effortlessly onto the face. The foundation offers medium coverage but is both buildable and blendable, creating a soft matte finish for natural-looking, flawless results. Lightweight and durable, MAC provides maximum staying power with 24-hour wear."

- Glides onto the skin.
- Soft matte finish.
- Medium coverage but can build to a fuller coverage.
- Blendable.
- Doesn't cake.
- Doesn't leave streaks when applying with a brush.
- Great handbag size for travel and top ups.
- Lightweight feel.

- Shade range needs expanding for darker tones.

The Verdict

I really like this foundation, I actually prefer it to the MAC fluid fix liquid one. With having a stick foundation, I feel I have more control when building a fuller coverage. It's lightweight and honestly, you forget you have foundation on.
The only downside for me is the shade range. There is a good range in the lighter to medium shades (which is a benefit for me) but barley anything for darker skin. MAC does have better shade options in other formulations but it confuses me as to why they have a 60+ shade portfolio and only produce 33 in this product. I'm coming to realise after speaking to other makeup lovers online that foundation products that are reviewed as "staple products" or "cult favourites" are not always as inclusive as they advertise.

As always, thanks for reading...
