Everything is so different this year. Although I won't be putting together treat bags for trick or treaters, I have put the ones I do for my family together.

I wasn't able to do a big haul this year as it was hard to find bits and pieces that were suitable this year. I've also found that prices have almost doubled in some areas and I get that prices do go up but didn't want to fall into those who are trying to make as much as they can out of the current pandemic situation.

This was what I was able to pick up:
I went to B&Ms, Poundland and Morrisons to pick up all these sweet treats and balloons. I ordered some plain treat bags off Hobbycraft, all Halloween designed ones I liked were sold out.
This is how the bags looked:
I had some black curling ribbon from a set I purchased a few years ago and thought it would look nice on these with all the halloween patterns and colours. I was really happy with how these turned out, even with having to scrap the marshmallows as they were too big!

I've already been out and delivered them (socially distanced of course and no house mixing) and it was lovely to see the kids faces in person. I know it's a tough time for a lot of people and with local restrictions. There have been many posts about local pumpkins trails and I do hope the child(ren) have as much fun as they can this year.

With Covid-19, Halloween is going to be a very different experience for a lot of children and adults. I usually do little treat bags for trick or treaters but this year, my community is doing a pumpkin trail, where they walk around spotting pumpkins and pictures in the window.

That got me thinking about this blog post I had planned. I wanted to put together a list of free colouring pages I've found across other websites, blogs and Pinterest designed by some wonderful creators. I thought I could make and put up a sign about this post for trick or treaters so those who are able, can easily find some printable colouring pages once they get home. You can find what I created at the end of this post.

So...let's get into it, all you need to do is click the name above each image to access them. Just to note some require an email address as it's sent as a PDF file and all links will have more colouring page designs to choose from!

Colouring Pages

Colouring Pages - Cat On Pumpkin Halloween Colouring Page

(This has an amazing 75 different designs!)
Woojr - It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
Crayola - Sugar Skull

Trick Or Treater Poster

Here is the poster I've put together using PicMonkey. I've also used QR-Code-Generator.com to make it easier and I will also laminate the page as I think it's going to rain! All I need to do is pop it in the window on the night ready. Feel free to print it out for your trick or treaters.

The Cath Kidston Beauty Advent Calendar is priced at £40.00 and sold on the brands own website as well as other retailers such as John Lewis.

Contents

5 x 30ml Hand Cream: Cassis & Rose / Oakmoss & Juniper / Twilight Garden / Red Berry and Cedar / London Tea
  • 1 x 50ml Hand Cream: Red Berry and Cedar
  • 4 x 10ml Lip Balm: Coconut / Grapefruit / Eggnog /, Cherry
  • 3 x 30g Soap: Red Berry and Cedar / Cassis & Rose / Oakmoss & Juniper
  • 1 x 30g Fizzer: Red Berry and Cedar
  • 1 x 30g Bath Salts: Lavender and English Chamomile
  • 3 x 30ml Body Lotion: Cassis & Rose / Red Berry and Cedar / Lavender and English Chamomile
  • 3 x 30ml Body Wash: Bears / Cassis & Rose / Oakmoss & Juniper
  • 1 x 30ml Bubble Bath: Red Berry and Cedar
  • 1 x 15ml Body Lotion: Lavender and English Chamomile
  • 1 x 15ml Body Wash: Bears

  • How is it different to last years?

  • The design has that very similar vintage Cath Kidston feel with a woodland theme this year. I love a woodland theme as it's versatile for every season but it always reminds me of that John Lewis advert. The main thing this year is that they've given a list of the scents in the items whereas last year they didn't. I can't say whether you'll get any repeated products.

  • Is it worth the price?

  • Priced at £40.00 with a worth of £69.00, it isn't the biggest saving but it's still a good one. I cannot say whether it would be worth the money to everyone as there wasn't a full contents list last year. If you had it, you may be able to say but after the year we've had I wouldn't be surprised if you were unsure. I feel that this is great to buy as a regifting product. If you have a larger family or friends group you could purchase this for stocking fillers or even pair a few pieces together in little gift bags for a couple of people. As an advent, it's not one of the top contenders for me.

How is it different to last years?

With 5 repeated products, this comes with more full sized and travel sized products this year. I do really like the box it comes in. Calendars with the individual draws mostly come as a book opening and I like that this already looks like a storage tower rather than something you could DIY into one.

Is it worth the price?

I will stand by what I've said before, £150.00 is a lot to pay out for a 12 day advent when you are just thinking about trying the brand. I would look towards the gift sets in that situation. For those who had the calendar last year and don't mind the 5 repeated products, 3 of them being part of their core skincare, then you would see the worth in it. You get a 30% saving overall with this advent which is really good considering there are newer products and there is more amount to them.

How is it different to last years?

This has the same book opening with individual draws, but a completely different design concept. I really like the suitcase look, although not that festive, it stands out. This has NO REPEATS! That's amazing to find in an advent calendar.

Is it worth the price?

The website prices this at £141.02 with the conversion rate and the advent is 100% worth the money. This has 24 full sized products, a brilliant mix of skincare and makeup, a lovely range of colours, no repeats and is worth over double what you pay. For me, the YesStyle advent calendar is one of the best on the market.

The Lego Harry Potter Advent Calendar is back for a second year and one of two character advents in the four Lego have released this year. It is again available on the Lego website as well as many toy retailers and supermarkets.

Contents

Includes Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley mini-figures and more.

How is it different to last years?

This is the second year Lego decided to do a Harry Potter advent calendar and I'm a little disappointed this year. Although it has a good number of figures and props, they've carried from last year with the Christmas Dining Hall theme from the first film and gone straight to the Yule Ball from the fourth film. I have hoped to have seen something related to The Chamber of Secrets. Nonetheless it is fun and festive.

Is it worth the price?

Priced at £24.99, the same as last year, it is another calendar by Lego that is worth the money. The only downside for me is skipping ahead a few years but that does speak to the fact Lego may not do a Harry Potter advent for long. So, if you collect the Harry Potter Lego sets, I'd snap this up as quickly as possible as it sold out fast last year.

The Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar is one of the two character based advents in the four released by Lego this year. Priced at £24.99 you can also find this on Shop Disney as well as toy retailers and supermarkets.

Contents

6 LEGO minifigures, 6 LEGO figures and a foldout playmat for role-play fun

How is it different to last years?

This has a lot more figures included this year, all with a festive concept which I love. There are again some repeat vehicles but in a different design and the box design does have the same Christmas tree theme.

Is it worth the price?

This is again, priced at £24.99. It is 100% worth the money and I'm glad to see Lego carry on the Star Wars brand in their calendars. After the last film in the latest trilogy was released last year, I did expect them to either switch to The Mandalorian series or scrap Star Wars and go with another Disney production. Star Wars is such a cult favourite that gains fans year on year so having merchandise for it is lovely to see.

The Lego Friends Advent Calendar is another one of the four calendars released by the brand this year. Priced at £19.99 it's available on Lego's own store as well as many toy retailers and supermarkets.

Contents

Lego Friends calendar comes with 2 mini-dolls, 2 elf figures and a penguin toy

How is it different to last years?

Switching back to the indoor theme, it's lovely to see that they've included another figure and 2 little elf figures too! I'm hoping they keep up having more than one figure as, in comparison to the other Lego Calendars, I feel having only one limits the imaginative play.

Is it worth the price?

Priced the same at £19.99 you are getting even more for your money this year. Again, I like that they have this option. I'm not saying toys are gender linked or sparking any debate around that, but having this within their variety has proven sell-worthy and I'm glad more thought is going into it.

The Lego City Advent Calendar is one of four advent calendars released by the brand this year. Priced at £19.99 you can find it on Lego's own online store as well as many toy retailers and supermarkets.

Contents

Includes a play mat, mini-toys and 6 LEGO City Adventures TV series minifigures

How is it different to last years?

Lego usually swap out a Christmas window set design and a Christmas outdoor design each alternative year. Last year and the previous we saw two window designs so to see the outdoor theme this year was and wasn't a surprise. I did wonder if they'd decided to stick to one theme or thought to change it to something completely different. You do again, get the repeated Santa figure but everything else is new.

Is it worth the price?

The price has decreased again to £19.99 which has had a better response from the public.  They've also given you the same in contents with that decrease in price. It's very much an advent that is worth the money and perfect for those wanting to get into Lego.

Real Techniques Mini Setting Brush
Real Techniques Mini Blush Brush
Real Techniques Mini Highlighter Brush

How is it different to last years?

This is the first year Real Techniques has released a full calendar and I'm surprised they didn't think to do one before. They've done 12 days of sponges before but that was 2 maybe 3 years ago. I really like the disco ball box design and I'm glad to see it is one where you pierce the door rather than having lots of little boxes.
When you buy a beauty calendar that's skincare and/or makeup or a fragrance calendar you expect something different in the contents. Products like that have multiple scents, colours, textures...etc whereas beauty tools are pretty much similar across brands. What they could do is just swap out the colours each time.

Is it worth the price?

Priced at £70.00 you get what you pay for but with the current offer of £35.00 at Superdrug, you get an amazing deal. If you are after beauty tools, Real Techniques is a brand I trust and recommend. I can see this selling out fast with the current deal so I'd shop fast!

How is it different to last years?

This calendar sold out so fast last year, that I didn't get a chance to review it. Due to be released on the 18th October, this is a very different structure and design. Last year they went with a star box filled with draws and as you can see this year, they have this unusual circle that folds in half and is able to stand. With only 7 repeated products, they've swapped out a lot of the face products for lip and eye ones instead.

Is it worth the price?

This is £4.00 cheaper at £125.00 and has increased by £27.00 to a £300.00 worth! Again, with the price being so high, I would double check that you'd get full use from the calendar but it is very much worth the money. I would target this towards 16 and up as MAC is a higher end brand of makeup and if you decide to get yourself, a family member or friend into them, it will affect your bank account.

How is it different to last years?

The structure has changed from the vending machine style boxes to a book with products in individual boxes. I'm actually a little disappointed as I loved the old structure, it really stood out for Amazon and was one you could re-decorate and reuse.

Is it worth the price?

Now £10.00 more at £60.00 this has a huge £215.00 worth! Amazon have always done that amazing saving on a middle ground calendar, where the majority of the contents are highstreet and well known brands with a few who are up and coming. Although this is £10.00 more you are getting that back in the worth and as always, this is 100% worth the price.

I'd love to know what you think. You can find me on FacebookTwitter & Instagram, use the hashtag #CalendarCountdown or comment below.
