How is it different to last years?

As the brand hasn't released in a calendar since 2017, I decided to compare the products to that release just to see what difference there could be. There are 7 repeated products which was the same when reviewing the 2017 calendar to the one from 2016! It seems that the brand create this calendar to reflect their most popular products, which would explain why there are so many eye and brow products and why they took a break. I do really like the cylinder style box for this but again wish the brand would do a design with some Christmas flair.

Is it worth the money?

This is a lot more expensive than previous years at £58.50, over £10 in comparison to 2017's but it does come with a £125 worth and I can see many newer products being included in larger sizes. I do feel this is worth the money but the other side of me wonders what I would do with so many eye products.

How is it different to last years?

Using a similar open book structure, the design is very on brand in art as well as colour palette. I like seeing the added Christmas flair with the snowflakes on the hot air balloon. It's a shame to see, that this has 13 repeated products.

Is it worth the money?

Priced the same at £42.00, I can see that in comparison to last year, they have kept up with giving the buyer more amount in the product, but there are still a lot of repeats. For someone who brought this last year, for the first time, those repeats may deter them and I think for those who love the brand should be able to get a majority of difference to the previous years. Last years shake up was huge for the brand, I was very happy to see it but this year they've taken such a step back that I don't recommend this.

How is it different to last years?

Again, with a little research, I was able to find that this calendar comes with 10 repeated products. The structure, although still with products in individual boxes, comes in this three drawer system which I very much prefer. Keeping the design and colour scheme very plain makes it brilliant for reuse.

Is it worth the price?

This is now £99.00 with a £135.00 worth. That's a huge £20.00 price increase on last years but from comparing the contents, I can see more deluxe sized samples and a few full sized products. In terms of being worth the money, I personally feel that although you get more from your money on this advent in comparison to the smaller one they've released, it's still not great to have such a high number of repeats. If you really love L'Occitane and don't mind the repeats this is the better of the two to purchase otherwise I'd check out their gifting range if you still want to try the brand.

I'd love to know what you think. You can find me on FacebookTwitter & Instagram, use the hashtag #CalendarCountdown or comment below.

How is it different to last years?

Last year I wasn't able to review a lot of the advent calendars on the market so this is one I had to research. L'Occitane have employed French Illustrator Edith Carron to do the design this year and although very on brand it is completely different to last year. The colour palette is more in keep with the season. It's just such a shame to see it come with 14 repeated products.

Is it worth the price?

With increase of £4.00, this is now £53.00 with a worth of £88.00. I, again, feel this is not worth the money if you brought it last year and want something new. L'Occitane has such a lovely and vast range of products that a couple of repeats to reflect brand favourites is ok, but over half the calendar's contents is a bit too much.

How is it different to last years?

As far as I can find, this is a new exclusive to Boots for 2020. Although I am unsure if all advent calendars are yet available on the Boots website, it seems they've swapped out the brands they have worked with this year. I love that, as it opens up new possibilities to try something different. I'm also wondering why they've advertised this as a ladies calendar, could one for men be on the way?

Is it worth the price?

As I haven't got one from the previous year to compare to and the Ted Baker website not able to tell me what prices could be, I've had to take a similar priced brand to compare. Jack Wills offered an advent calendar with a similar mix of bodycare, beauty tools and sprays and was priced at £35.00 but the amount in the product was a lot less than this. Taking it all into account for £45.00 I would say this is very much worth the price.

The Yankee Candle Tower Advent Calendar is the third and final calendar to be released through the brands website this year. I am unsure if it's already sold out or still to be released online, but it is available with other online suppliers like Temptation Gifts.

Contents

There is currently no full list of contents for this advent, but suppliers websites say it includes 24 days of candles and accessories.

How is it different to last years?

I really like the Tower advent, it's just such a shame that there is no contents list for this year. They've kept the same design launched this year and I do love that the Christmas Tree was left for this, it looks stunning.

Is it worth the price?

At £79.99 I cannot say whether this would be worth the money to you or not. With no contents list, it's difficult to know whether you would get any repeated products. What you could possibly determine is that the contents worth would be the same as last years. The brands trend of having the same item features and layout suggests £76.56 worth of products for the £79.99 price but again,  I cannot confirm that. I do love the tower advent out of all the ones the brand releases through their website, so if you haven't had one before I'd say it was worth a gamble.

I'd love to know what you think. You can find me on FacebookTwitter & Instagram, use the hashtag #CalendarCountdown or comment below.

The Yankee Candle Book Advent Calendar is the second of three calendars released online by the brand. This advent has a mix of votive and tealight candles.

Contents

Votive Candles:
1 x Singing Carols
1 x Holiday Hearth
1 x Surprise Snowfall
1 x Unwrap The Magic
1 x Christmas Morning Punch
1 x Christmas Cookie™

1 x Glittering Star
1 x Cinnamon Stick
Tea Light Candles:
2 x Candlelit Cabin
2 x Red Apple Wreath
2 x Cranberry Ice™
2 x Surprise Snowfall
2 x Holiday Hearth
2 x Singing Carols
Accessory:
1 x Dot/Star Votive Holder
*Highlighted products are repeats from last years Advent Calendar*

How is it different to last years?

With the same book style opening, this carries the same vintage-esq design but with presents on the cover. With the same votive holder, 5 repeated votive candle scents and 1 tealights set scent, the number of repeats has decreased in the advent this year.

Is it worth the price?

Again, this calendar has followed the same pattern as previous years but this has had a slight price increase. At £39.99 it includes 12 votive candles priced at £23.88, 12 tealights priced at £6.99 and a holder priced at £4.99. You are getting £35.86 in contents for a £39.99 calendar.
For me, an advent calendar is a way to showcase a brand or brands under a parent company. I'm not saying that you cannot make some profit from it, but with this calendar, that always gave you the worth in the money you are paying suddenly adding on a few extra pounds, you would expect something new in it for that. I still think it's a good price for what you get, but can understand if people are not happy with it this year.

The Yankee Candle Wreath Advent Calendar is one of three released on the brand website this year. Containing tealights and a tealight holder, it is priced at £24.99.

Contents

Tea Lights:
3 x Singing Carols
3 x Snowflake Cookie
3 x Christmas Magic
3 x Christmas Cookie
3 x Holiday Hearth
3 x Surprise Snowfall
3 x Cinnamon Stick
3 x Vanilla French Toast
Accessory :
1 x Clear Glass Tea Light Holder
*Highlighted products are repeats from last years Advent Calendar*

How is it different to last years?

Keeping the same wreath shape for their lowest priced advent calendar in this years release, the design is completely different. I really love this, it has a vintage traditional feel to it and with the white background, really stands out. This year there are unfortunately a lot more repeated scents that takes up half of the calendars contents.

Is it worth the price?

Priced again at £24.99 it is the same situation of paying a lot more than what the contents are worth. A pack of twelve tealights is priced at £6.99 giving you £13.98 worth of tealights. The tealight holder is priced at 99p giving you a total advent worth of £14.97. In my opinion the brand needs to scrap this calendar or take £10.00 off the current price.

How is it different to last years?

This is another calendar that I didn't get a chance to talk about last year as it sold out so quickly. After looking it up I've come to find the design is very similar, just with more detail and they kept the same shape and colour palette. Again, there are some draws where you do get multiple products from a brand and even with this there are only three repeated products.

Is it worth the price?

It was priced at £195.00 with over £730.00 worth of products last year. It is again £195.00 and has over £800.00 worth of products! this is amazing. Although the price is steep for an advent calendar, you get quality brands, product and good sizes too. The main reason that this advent is worth more is because they've upped the size of the deluxe products and given you more full sized ones. Out of all the higher end calendars that are £150.00+ I would say this is a real contender.

I'd love to know what you think. You can find me on FacebookTwitter & Instagram, use the hashtag #CalendarCountdown or comment below.

I've done this post a little differently, I came to the same conclusion for all sock advents on the Boots website and decided to put them all in one post.
The Boots Disney, Friends & Harry Potter Sock Advent Calendars are priced at £30.00 and currently on "stock coming soon".

Disney Ladies Sock Advent Calendar

Harry Potter Ladies Sock Advent Calendar

Harry Potter Mens Sock Advent Calendar

Friends Sock Advent Calendar

How are they different to last years?

The only advent to be re-released is the Disney Ladies one and although the calendar design is the same, the socks are different to last years. The Friends and Harry Potter ones are brand new for 2020. I do like the art of the advents, they stick to brand and some even have that Christmas flair.

Is it worth the price?

Each advent is priced at £30.00 and are only a 12 day calendar. These calendars, for me, are not worth the money. Although they are character in design, a pack of 5 socks from Primark (including some character and Christmas designs) costs £5.00 on average. For £30.00 I could get 6 packs of socks. I actually had a look into how you could DIY an advent like this and I found that you could purchase a 25 day refillable advent from Hobbycraft for £5.00. Add in 5 pairs of £5.00 pack of 5 socks from Primark and that's the same £30.00 cost but with 13 extra pairs.
It's safe to say that if you are looking for a sock advent calendar, unless these go on an amazing offer, doing it yourself will be the only way to get your money's worth.

I'd love to know what you think. You can find me on FacebookTwitter & Instagram, use the hashtag #CalendarCountdown or comment below.

How is it different to last years?

Last year I was unable to review the Feel Unique calendar as part of the Calendar Countdown series as it sold out quickly. This year it is ready for pre-order and set to be released at the beginning of October. With a gorgeous open book design, this only contains one repeated product! With a few familiar and new brands it hosts the perfect variety across beauty, skincare and bodycare.

Is it worth the price?

Priced at £89.00 with a worth of £277.58, this is an absolute steal! It is actually £10.00 more compared to last year, but you get that back in the contents worth. Feel Unique, for me, always do an advent calendar well and although I always say that nearing £100.00 for an advent calendar is worth a think, I always feel you wouldn't waste your money if you are looking to give an advent a try whilst keeping that surprise element. It's clear you get your money's worth and I 100% recommend it.

How is it different to last years?

Boots have brought back this collaboration with another festive design but with a few issues too. This is a 24 day advent with twelve repeated products, that is half of its contents. The advent exclusively contains brands you can find in Boots and although they have included a few new ones, they haven't reflected the different products in the brands they've featured again. Products that are not exact repeats highlighted above, are the same but different colours.

Is it worth the price?

Last year it was priced at £40.00, this year it is an eye-watering £85.00 with a £137.98 worth claim. Now adding everything up you do get that claim, but it is not worth the money. The worth claim last year was around £130.00 so already you can see the problem.
For £40.00 you got around £130.00 worth of products with £2.00 of that sale going to Macmillan Cancer Support. This year you pay £85.00 for £137.98 worth of products and still just £2.00 of that sale goes to the charity. Where is the extra £37.00 that you are not getting in the products and not going to the charity actually going? It is so disappointing to see this happen with an advent advertised to help support a charity that affects 1 in 2 of us. I do not recommend this advent this year.

Lily's Kitchen Pet Advent Calendars are available for your Dog and/or Cat. Priced at £10.00 each they contain treats made with natural ingredients for your pet(s)

Contents

Dog Advent:
Rise & Shines: Flower shaped treats made with beef liver, fresh carrots, blackstrap molasses and alfalfa to help keep your dog's coat as shiny as a Christmas bauble. Two behind each door hiding Rise & Shines.
Cheese & Apple Training Treats: A troupe of mini organic bone-shaped biscuits, made with organic apples and farmhouse cheddar to help keep your dog's attention on wintry walks in the park. Three behind each door hiding Training Treats.
Bedtime Biscuits: Blissful bedtime treats, made with honey, yogurt, chamomile and passion flowers, to help soother your dog on those exciting nights before Christmas Day. One behind each door hiding a Bedtime Biscuit.
Cat Advent:
Festive Turkey Treats With Cranberry : With freshly prepared turkey, gravy and a sprinkling of cranberries, these naturally delicious treats will give your cat their very own taste of Christmas Dinner.
Tasty Chicken Treats With Liver : Delectable treats made with freshly prepared chicken. Enriched with taurine, these are delicious delights for twinkly eyed Christmas cats.

How are they different to last years?

They are not any different in design or contents to last years advent calendars and part of me still feels, it's for your pet they are not bothered by the design and if it's not broke don't fix it. The other part of me wants to see something different, Lily's Kitchen has had different designs before and I love their illustrations for the brand.

Are they worth the price?

Liked I've said before, you are getting over 50 treats per advent, that are handmade, with the best natural and nutritious ingredients. You may have noticed that over the years of doing Calendar Countdown I don't feature any other pet brand because the contents usually have cheap fillers. I trust Lily's Kitchen to give the best product for my dog and 100% recommend them.

I'd love to know what you think. You can find me on FacebookTwitter & Instagram, use the hashtag #CalendarCountdown or comment below.

Lamoora Breathe Shower Bomb 30g
Gallinee Face Vinegar 50ml
Kili.G Face, Eyes, Neck Mousse 60ml
Up Circle Face Scrub Citrus Blend 100ml

How is it different to last years?

Last year, the Holland & Barrett advent calendar sold out before I could put up a post but I do have the list of contents and there are no repeated products in the advent calendar this year! That is an amazing find amongst the many advent calendars on the market. The design is a lot better too, last year had this strange checkerboard and circle pattern which looked like it was 70's inspired. This red christmas tree with sparkles looks a lot more festive.

Is it worth the price?

Priced at £40.00 it comes with a worth of £170.00. It is £5.00 more than last years calendar but the worth has gone up from £146.00. Paying an extra £5.00 for an extra £24.00 worth of products is amazing! I 100% recommend this and it is completely worth the money. But what I think make this stand out is that it's vegan and comes with 14 full sized products.

I'd love to know what you think. You can find me on FacebookTwitter & Instagram, use the hashtag #CalendarCountdown or comment below.
