The Makeup Revolution I Heart Gingerbread House Advent Calendar is the third advent in the brands Christmas range this year. Priced at £140.00 it features products from the I Heart Revolution range of the brand.

Contents

  • Open the doors to find 25 boxes filled with must-have I Heart Revolution goodies. Filled with full-sized surprises including a full-size chocolate shadow and face palettes. Plus I Heart Revolution’s iconic heart highlighters, scented glosses and super cute accessories.

How is it different to last years?

This is a brand new advent from revolution for 2019. There isn't a full contents list so I can't compare it to the other two calendars on the market this year. The design is gorgeous. Like the Christmas Tree it is huge but sturdy and reusable as well as recyclable. The design is perfect for the pre-teen to young adult consumer range it's primarily advertised for.

Is it worth the price?

Originally priced at £160.00 it's been decreased to £140.00 which is the contents worth. I've been keeping an eye on the revolution advent's and others on the superdrug website as I like to post about them when they are discounted.  So at £140.00 you pay for what you get but the question is, what do you get. I've seen some unboxing videos and found it contains a lot of palettes, highlighters and lip products. I would say the best purpose for this is to build your collection. Although the variety in type of product isn't as apparent the colours are and if you are an aspiring makeup artist or you love to be very colourful in your looks this would be great for you. As an advent you'd like to gift to someone who is a beginner to makeup or the brand, I'd look at the other two they offer instead.

What do you think of the new advent? Were you surprised Makeup Revolution originally charged £20 over the contents price?

How it is different to last years?

As you can see there are 7 repeated products when you go by their names but some palettes have had rebranding done throughout the year and some can be quite similar to last year so I'd say there are a possible 10 repeated products.
Keeping a similar colour palette as their £50.00 advent, they've kept the christmas tree structure which is huge. Although it's one of the biggest advent calendars I've comes across, it's something I'm not a huge fan of unless well made. This is sturdy and reusable and if not needed, recyclable.

Is it worth the price?

Also kept at the same price of £120.00 this is another advent where you do get your money's worth in the contents but there is an issue with the contents list. Advertised as a 25 day advent but they've provided a list of 24 products. The contents listed is close to the £120.00 price you pay but it does make you wonder what day 25 contains. It's a little disappointing to see repeats as revolution have a huge catalogue of products. I'd love to see them have a skincare advent next year with that side of their collections growing.
Another on the 3 for 2 offer it can be a great saving. However that is dependant upon if you want to pay to have those repeated products.

Are you a fan of The Christmas Tree Advent? Is this one that you would buy?

  • 2x Mini Baked Highlighter
  • 1x Mini Pressed Highlighter

How is it different to last years?

I cannot say whether you will be receiving repeated products this year as last years calendar didn't come with a list of contents. The design this year is completely different. Opting for a darker maroon colour, it features a simplistic gold bauble and sparkle design.

Is it worth the price?

Again, this has been released at the £50.00 price point and is currently on their 3 for 2 offer. Contents wise this is worth the price. If you had the advent last year you may get repeats and in some cases that can determine if it's worth the money to you. For first time buyers or those looking to get into makeup, this is a great introduction. The variety offered gives someone a chance to try natural and more dressed up looks.
What is an amazing selling point to the advent this year is the inclusion of vegan only products. It's rare to come across an advent like this from such a popular brand and I feel it really sets a precedent for other brands as there is a market for it.

Are you a fan of their staple £50.00 advent calendar? Do you look for calendars that have or are 100% vegan products only?

  • 1 x MEN:U Facial Moisturiser Lift
  • 1 x House 99 All Bright Natural Bronzing Moisturising Gel
*Highlighted products are repeats from last years Advent Calendar*

How is it different to last years?

Unfortunately I can't say if there are any repeated products as last years didn't come with a contents list. Keeping this a 12 day advent is still the best idea for the brand. I feel for a men's skincare routine having too much variety in an advent can increase wasted products. For example, not every man has a beard so beard oil wouldn't be used by every customer. Keeping the similar structure and design to the face and body advent is on brand and stands out.

Is it worth the price?

Priced at £35.00, this is a £5.00 increase to last years advent. After calculations, you do get the money's worth in the advent and I've found more full sized products are included. I find ASOS has one of the best Men's advent calendars with the mix of well known and high end brands as well as content variety, I'd recommend it to a man of any age.

Do you think ASOS has one of the best Men's Advents? Do you think the contents are worth £35.00?

How is it different to last years?

Yet again, ASOS has released an advent with only one repeated product. A few familiar brands but that's a given with affiliations. They've stepped away from the tray design and gone with the popular theme of products in seperate boxes but rather than have them spread on a huge surface area, they are stacked into a box (like pictured above). This is a fantastic twist on the theme as it doesn't take up too much space and is reusable. Although I'd love a more festive design, it does make that reusable factor more diverse.

Is it worth the price?

The leap from £55.00 to £70.00 was quite a shock. You would usually see a small increase year after year, so this does make you question if the contents are worth the price. After adding everything up you do get your money's worth. This is a brilliant advent calendar for teens and young adults as the brands are more reflective of that age bracket. I'd 100% recommend this.

Were you surprised by the £15.00 increase? Would you buy this advent?

How is it different to last years?

I feel that this is the reason for the huge change up this year. Superdrug Bloom has had 25 day advent calendars before but they featured the fragrances as tea lights. Although they were lovely to pick up on sale they were not as popular as the 12 days fragrance one. This is again, a gifting set that can be used as an advent calendar and the design is a lot more festive as well as on brand.

Is it worth the price?

Priced at £70.00 it works out to be just under £3 a product. For a brand that doesn't have the products on sale separately it works out well in comparison to their gifting range and other advent calendars. This is going to be worlds away price wise as last years was just £24.00 but as mentioned this is featuring a whole host of fragrance and body products. I can understand the notion of not being able to try out the products in another way before putting that money down is worrying. You could always go with their 12 day set, but, if you've had their advents before and you want to take the gamble you would be getting your money's worth within this advent.

Are you surprised by this new Superdrug Bloom advent? Would you miss the tea light one?

*Highlighted products are repeats from last years Advent Calendar*

How is it different to last years?

Although repeated products has decreased from 8 to 5 this year, with their addition of body products, there are repeated scents in that form. Superdrug has really changed it up this year, releasing this as a 12 days gift set rather than an advent calendar, but you can still use it as one. On one hand it's a shame to see but on the other because it can be worked either way it's a moot point. I just wish the packaging was a little more festive looking.

Is it worth the price?

Increasing the price from £24.00 to £30.00 is a jump but you do get your money's worth and you see that increase in the new products. The new products are a great addition to balance out the repeated products but would always say if you had this the year before it's worth looking into before purchasing.
What we as the public are yet to see is whether this would go on offer. Boots are known for their 3 for 2 Christmas range and Superdrug have followed suit this year. Usually as we get closer to Christmas, Superdrug would do an up to half price gifting and include advent's in this. Although it is worth the price on its own and on the 3 for 2, I would keep an eye out to see what Superdrug does to get a really bargain.

Are you surprised by this now being a gifting set? What do you think of Superdrug doing a 3 for 2?

Funko POP! Harry Potter Advent Calendar is one of three released this year. Featuring mini Funko POP! figures, it's priced at £39.99.

Contents

  • Spend the holidays with your favourite witches, wizards and magical creatures with a surprise character behind every window.
  • This is the second edition to last year's sell out Funko Pocket Pop! Calendar!
  • The figures are Pocket Pop! Keychain sized (approximately 1-2 inches tall)

How is it different to last years?

The second edition of the Funko POP! Harry Potter advent calendar and although there are repeated characters, it looks like they've chosen different designs for them. Last year the advent design was very similar, with a Christmas theme, but had the figures designed from the earlier movies. This is still very clever to do as for people who collect them can have a timeline of the characters and children have more ways to be creative when playing with them.

Is it worth the price?

Last year the advent was actually priced at £59.99. Decreasing it to £39.99 makes it even more worth the money you pay. Obtaining £96.00 worth in content is an amazing selling point to this calendar, let alone the fact it's Harry Potter. Although the outlook is that the characters are different in design, there is no guaranteed way of knowing so you may take a gamble of getting a repeat or two.

Did you purchase the Harry Potter one last year? Would you purchase it again this year?

Funko POP! Marvel Advent Calendar is another new release for 2019. Priced the same at £39.99, you'll recieve mini Funko POP! figures of your favourite Marvel characters.

Contents

  • Amazing opportunity to own the very first Marvel Pop! Mini Advent Calendar
  • From Avengers to Guardians, villains to anti-heroes, this calendar is a heroic celebration of the holidays!
  • The figures are Pocket Pop! Keychain sized (approximately 1-2 inches tall)

How is it different to last years?

This is another brand new for this year and like the ones that have come before it has the same 2 door opening structure and is designed to reflect the brand rather than have a festive theme to it.

Is it worth the price?

This is 100% worth the price and very smart of Funko POP! to do. With £96.00 worth in contents, for £39.99 you're not only getting double what you pay, you are getting such variety with the figures too. Marvel has had a huge year with the Avengers End Game movie breaking records and the completion of Phase 3 setting up for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this is going to be one that goes fast! Perfect for children, collectors and Marvel fans, this is an advent that is on my want list. If I received this I'd be extremely happy.

Are you a Marvel fan? Is this an advent you'd purchase?

Funko POP! Fortnite Advent Calendar is a brand new advent calendar for the brand. Priced at £39.99 with 24, 4cm average height fortnite character figures.

Contents

  • Amazing opportunity to own the very first Fortnite Pint Sized Heroes Advent Calendar
  • Limited quantity worldwide - Secure yours now!
  • Last years Pop! Mini Advent Calendar sold out globally
  • The figures are Pint Sized Heroes sized (approximately 1-2 inches tall)

How is it different to last years?

This is the first year Funko Pop! have released a Fortnite version of their advent calendar. To compare to last year structurally, they have kept the fold out box design to reveal all the windows. It's classic, simple and doesn't take up too much space. The design is very much on brand but not as festive. It's great as an introduction but if they do this again next year I would like to see a Christmas version of the characters.

Is it worth the price?

Priced at £39.99 this is completely worth the price. The normal 10cm Pop Funko figures cost on average £10.00 each. If you took that as £1 a centimeter then (again on average) a 4cm figure would be £4 totalling £96.00 worth in contents! This is fantastic for children and collectors. I can see Funko POP! releasing many different character based advents like this over the years.

Do you collect Funko POP! figures? What other Character ones would you like to see?
