Jeffree Star Cosmetics Blood Sugar Eyeshadow Palette // The August Review

Brought from Beauty Bay this year, I was so excited to finally try a Jeffree Star Eyeshadow Palette! The website describes the the palette as
“An eighteen-colour eyeshadow palette. Displayed in a luxurious red faux leather case, Blood Sugar Eyeshadow Palette contains a variety of matte, metallic and pressed glitter shades. Highly pigmented and effortlessly blendable, this striking palette can be used to create a range of wearable looks. Vegan Friendly and Cruelty Free.”

The Palette & Swatches

Swatches were done with one circular motion across each ones pan, with my finger and swiped once across my skin.
From left to right; Glucose, Sugar Cane, Cake Mix, Ouch, Donor & Intravenous

From left to right; Candy Floss, Tongue Pop, Sweetener, Cavity, O Positive & Root Canal

From left to right; Prick, Cherry Soda, Fresh Meat, Blood Sugar, Extraction & Coma.

Pros

  • One of the most amazing colour payoffs I’ve come across.
  • The choice of colours are perfect if you are looking to build bolder looks.
  • Long lasting. I wore these shadows for around 8 hours with no eye shadow primer but I did use a spritz of MAC finishing spray. They were as perfect as when I put them on.
  • Has the softest texture. You only need a light touch with your makeup brush.
  • The metallic shades in particular surprised me the most. Other metallic shades I’ve used are quite chunky and hard to blend. I had no issues with these at all.
  • Limited fallout. By that I mean, you are bound to get some fallout with any metallic or glitter eyeshadow, but I was so surprised by how much product stayed when placed.
  • Packaging is gorgeous, sturdy and comes with a great sized mirror for on the go.

Cons

  • None.

The Verdict

After being a fan of Jeffree Star Cosmetic lip products for so long and seeing so many amazing reviews across all ages for his eyeshadow products, this was one on my want to try list for quite some time.

Priced at £48 on the Beauty Bay website you are getting 18 eyeshadows for as little as £2.66 each. That is an amazing price point for a product this well made.
I know that purchasing something like this may not be within your usual beauty budget but as a treat or if you are looking to swap out your current palette I’d really consider this.
To compare to another cult beauty favourite and one more accessible in UK drug and department stores, let’s use Urban Decays Naked 3 Eyeshadow Palette. Another well loved, well made palette that is currently priced on the Debenhams website at £42, you get 12 natural eyeshadows at £3.50 each. Although only a third of the Jeffree Star shadows in this palette are more natural that is still 6 shadows, half of an Urban Decay palette. I find out of all of Jeffree Star Cosmetic palettes this is the most wearable and goes from day to night.

I have never come across a brand, let alone a palette that I have no qualms or issues putting my money into.

Are you a fan of Jeffree Star Cosmetics? What are your thought on The Blood Sugar Eyeshadow Palette?

As always, thanks for reading…
