Colourpop X Zoella Brunch Date Collection // The August Review

YouTuber Zoe Sugg or known as; “Zoella” by her fans, collaborated with the brand Colourpop for this 70’s Brunch inspired collection which was released February of this year.
The collection consists of three liquid lipstick bundles (also available separately), two gel eyeliners, two metallic liquid eyeshadows, one blush, one highlighter and one 12 shade eyeshadow palette.

Unfortunately a lot of the collection is sold out on the website but click here to see what is still available.

The Palette & Swatches

Described by the Colourpop website as;
“Brunch is served! Get elevated essentials of warm and cool-toned eyeshadows in a sleek lil palette. One of our most user-friendly palettes, you can easily create versatile wearable looks with its mix of matte and metallic shadows. Satisfy all your cravings and take your look from a sweet “Let’s meet for coffee” day-time eye to a chic “Reservations at 8” night out look. She’s cute any time of day.”

From left to right, top to bottom; Champagne Toast, Pancakes Please, French Toast, Skinny Latte, Cinnamon, Mimosa, Maple Syrup, Sundae Funday, Sunny Side Up, Americano, Brunch Club & Extra Slice.

Pros

  • Good colour payoff.
  • Blendable with little fallout.
  • Affordable. At $18, each shadow costs $1.50.
  • Slim with a large mirror, great to travel with.
  • Gorgeous packaging.

Cons

  • With a mainly natural colour selection, some shades are very similar.
  • Confused by the one blue eyeshadow.

The Liquid Lipsticks & Swatches

Described by the Colourpop website as;
“Intense colour pay off in one swipe that dries down to a super matte, transfer-proof finish.”

Pros

  • Amazing pigmentation.
  • With only three in the collection; I really liked the colour choices.
  • Smooth consistency.
  • The lip wand is the perfect size for application.
  • Once dried it does have good staying power.
  • At $7, you are getting your money's worth with the product.

Cons

  • None

The Verdict

I brought the palette out of curiosity. Lord knows I have many palettes with natural eyeshadows but I was intrigued by the number of metallic shades included. Although the single blue eyeshadow has thrown me and I am confused as to why it’s in the palette, I really like how many subtle day looks can be created with this. Yes, even including the metallic shades.
This is a product that I would say is perfect for beginners, young people getting into makeup or those who favour a natural colour selection. Although it’s a lovely palette, for me, I wouldn’t buy this as a full palette again. If the shades were to be sold separately I’d purchase the metallics again.

With my love of liquid lipsticks I of course brought the three colours in this range. I decided to buy them as separates rather than in the bundles because I personally don’t use lip pencils often and found I was saving $5 per liquid lipstick by buying it as a solo piece.
Having used Colourpop liquid lipsticks before I knew I was getting quality product and with the three colours chosen they really complimented my pale skin. 100% recommend and I would buy these again.

What are your thoughts on the Colourpop x Zoella range? Would you purchase any of these products?

As always, thanks for reading…
