Colourpop X Disney Villains Collection // The August Review

With the success of the Disney Designer Range it wasn’t surprising to see a Villains collection released within the new year. From what I have seen, Colourpop have found from the previous collection that their customer base liked the different kits and released them on day of launch rather than a later date.
This means you can pick and chose and in some ways customise what would suit you or purchase everything from your favourite villains range.

The Palette & Swatches

Described by the Colourpop website as;
“Rooting for the good guys is boring. In collaboration with Disney and their infamous villains, we’re bringing you the palette to rule the all, Misunderstood. This mixed finish 15 pan palette combines intense mattes, colour shifting duo-chromes and rich metallics. Scheme all the ways you’ll slay your look, it won’t be hard with this palette.”

From left to right, top to bottom; No Spots, Mongrels, Diablo, Devious, Tragic, Underworld, Pain & Panic, Forest Of Thorns, Flotsam, The Fates, Revenge, Sing, Jetsam, Facile & 101.

  • Affordable, it's another palette that works out to be $1.46 per shade.
  • Little fall out and blends well.
  • Gorgeous shade range.
  • Soft texture. A lot of metallics can be chunky yet these are so smooth on application.

  • Again, would of liked to have seen a mirror.

The Lipsticks & Swatches

Described on the Colourpop website as;
“Get a taste of the dark side with all 6 of Villains Lux Lipsticks. Featuring wicked nudes to devious vampy shades, wear them all while you're plotting your next scheme to take over the world.”
From left to right; Ursula, Maleficent, Cruella, Dr Facilier, Hades & The Evil Queen.

  • Amazing colour pay off.
  • Complimentary shade range. I find these work for all skin tones.
  • Smooth consistency on application.
  • Affordable at $8 a piece.
  • Hydrating.

  • None

The Verdict

I've said before that putting my love of Disney together with my love of makeup is a sure way for my bank account to suffer. I completely adore this range.

A more metallic style of eyeshadow palette this not only screams the criteria of Disney Villains the shadows are so soft and smooth. A lot of glitter or metallic shades can be quite chunky to get that glistening pay off. These don't have that and you still get minimal fallout on application. A perfect palette for someone who loves Disney, loves to cosplay Disney Villains or goes all out with bold looks.

Colour scheme wise I do prefer the Disney Villains Lipstick range as I love a bold lip. I wasn't surprised that I got amazing quality and colour payoff. These are some of the best lipsticks I've come across that are at such an affordable price. I was lucky to purchase the full set this time round and I'm so in love with them. I 100% recommend these.

Do you prefer this palette to the Disney Designers one? Do you prefer matte or metallic eyeshadows?

As always, thanks for reading...
