Colourpop X Disney Designer Collection // The August Review

Released in the Autumn / Winter of 2018. This Disney Designer collaboration with Colourpop was immediately on my radar. I have loved Disney since I was a child and to combine it with my love of makeup is the ultimate way for my bank account to suffer.

The original launch consisted of six lipsticks, three lip glosses, two highlighters, six pressed eyeshadows (for solo purchase) and one 15 shade eyeshadow palette.
Since the original launch the collection has grown significantly. With a number of kits available you can purchase the products solely by their type or by choosing a princess.

The Palette & Swatches

Described on the Colourpop website as;
"Get red carpet ready with the pi├Ęces de r├ęsistance of the collection, our first 15 pan shadow palette inspired by the iconic Disney princesses. These soft romantic shadows will add a touch of glam to any look to make you photo ready."

From left to right, top to bottom; Chip, Juju, Grumpy, Triton, Abu, Prince Charming, Ray, Fairy Godmother, One Kiss?, Thingamabob, Enchanted Rose, Poison Apple, Magic Carpet, Beast & Midnight Curfew.

Pros

  • Amazing colour selection.
  • Good colour payoff.
  • At $1.46 a shade it’s not only affordable, you also get your money’s worth.
  • Blendable with little fallout.
  • Love the packaging.

Cons

  • Would of been nice to include a mirror.

The Lipsticks & Swatches

Described on the Colourpop website as;
“Lux it up. Enriched with our LUX Blend of hydrating butters, this creamy, long-wearing lipstick glides on the lips with rich pigmentation in a comfy, lightweight formula.”

From left to right; Snow White, Belle & Tiana

Pros

  • Amazing colour pigmentation.
  • Hydrating.
  • Smooth application.
  • I was surprised to feel how lightweight they claimed to be.
  • At $8 a piece these are better than some high end lipsticks I’ve used.

Cons

  • None.

The Verdict

I love, love, love this range!

The eyeshadow palette is the perfect combination of types of eyeshadow as well as shades. It is again more of a natural shade selection but the bolder and deeper shades with the metallics make it so you can go from day to night. It’s another palette perfect for beginners or those getting into makeup but I would also suggest this to those who cosplay Disney characters.

The lipsticks are my absolute favourite. I was so happy with the formula, colour pay off and longevity. I only picked three of the princesses as, although affordable, I couldn’t at the time purchase more than three alongside the palette and Belle, Snow White & Tiana were in my opinion the best all round shades. I would recommend these all day long and I’m really excited to hopefully further expand the collection.

What are your thoughts on Colourpop Products? Is this Disney Collaboration one you'd purchase?

As always, thanks for reading…
