In 2015 & 2016 I wrote posts about the BAFTAS fashion, something I intended to do in 2017 but was unfortunately ill.

I feel in an awkward position as this year the BAFTAS red carpet is full of nominees and attendees supporting the Times Up Movement. To show their support they are wearing black and / or wearing pins that were created for the movement. There have been many award shows this year (mainly in the US) that have done the same thing, the BAFTAS is the first UK Red Carpet to reflect this movement.

Tonight as I write and edit this post I am getting breaking news headlines from apps on my phone because the Duchess of Cambridge has "defied" the dress code. Hopefully I explain this in the way I want it to come across but who the hell are these reporters to say she has "defied" the dress code and why make sarcastic remarks because she "at least has a black ribbon" - Looking at you Daily Mail. I have seen many fashion pieces of black and another colour over all red carpet events so far this year, where people have shown their support. Why is it that you go ahead and single out a woman, who can be seen as a controversial person to discuss (the whether you're a royalist or not debate) when the movement is the topic of the discussion.

I decided not to do any fashion posts from this years red carpets as I don't feel it's my place to belittle the movement by picking at the fashion. I like writing posts about red carpet fashion as it's really the only time you see formal wear and I love the elegance of it. I have my opinions like everyone else and if you've read previous posts, I don't single out female over male fashions and I make comments more about my opinion on materials used, colour choices and whether I think the cut suits them. Fashion posts are too caught up in the hot or not lists and that shouldn't even be thought about let alone discussed in this situation.

I think everyone knows what has been happening and there are those that can explain it in a lot more detail but in a nutshell the Times Up movement is against sexual harassment, founded on the 1st January 2018 as a response to the Harvey Weinstein scandal and #MeToo Movement. Accusations came to light that over many decades Harvey Weinstein and many other men in the entertainment business have been using their position to sexually harass, victimise and in some cases sexual abuse women. Starting as the #MeToo hashtag, created by Tarana Burke as a way to empower women through empathy, it's encouraged a whole movement to not only raise awareness and empathise but to change policies and laws, create safer environments in reporting incidents, challenge social norms, change the "role" of men and has ultimately brought justice to many victims in particular to note the US Gymnastics team.

I am a huge supporter of the Times Up Movement and it is upsetting that behind closed doors members of our society were still making allowances for this behaviour towards women. I am in awe of the strength these women have and as I've said I'm not going to sit here and write about who is fashionable and whose not when they are uniting against sexual harassment.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I was going to put together some more ideas for last minute dates when I realised that they were not all that different to ones I've posted before.
I thought I'd throwback to those posts and hopefully give you some ideas if you're stuck.

Idea Post 1 - This post features day and night ideas for couples and those who are single. Just because you may not have someone to celebrate with it doesn't mean you can't pamper yourself. There is also a list of films that I absolutely love and are not necessarily romantic comedies.

Idea Post 2 - This post features very simple but very last minute ideas for couples. They are more about getting that chance to spend more time together. With these you are able to keep costs down as well. Valentines comes two weeks after the first payday after Christmas for a lot of people but it shouldn't mean you can't celebrate.

What are your plans for Valentines Day? Are you postponing until the weekend? Leave your comments below!

Although gifting around Valentine's Day can be as predictable as say Wedding Day gifting, there are still many retailers that have brilliant products without inflating the price just because of Valentines Day. Again similar to the Valentines Day Cards post I decided to feature three brands.

Bomb Cosmetics

I don't think this would come to any surprise after my last post. I will be honest and say I did have to rewrite this as I had originally picked Lush as a bathing / beauty option. I was shocked that Lush gift sets were priced over £3 higher because of the gift wrapping. Bomb Cosmetics offer an amazing range at very affordable prices. When comparing them to Lush I was finding that I could get twice the amount of products, with quality and more variety for the same or even a lower price.
Both priced at £7.99
First is priced at £13.99, the rest are £14.99

These are fantastic sets that do not break the bank. I am so impressed with this brand and I think these would make lovely pamper gifts for those who maybe cannot fully celebrate Valentines Day with it being a weekday and may be working. They can still use the evening to relax and spend time with their partner. Click Here to check out their range.

Titled Gifts

Some couples love to buy gifts with Husband, Wife, Loved One...etc on them and there are many companies and brands who do that. I would always say Clintons and Card Factory are the best stores to find them. With Clintons you get the more well known brands like Me To You and Boofle whereas Card Factory have their own brand gifts.
Between both of these retailers you can get items such as:

Bears & Mugs
Decorative Pieces & Keepsakes

But there are certain products that each retailer does better. Clintons have a better array of Candles whilst Card Factory do amazing Balloon bouquets. A lot of high streets will have both stores so you'll be able to compare and even shop between the two as they do have different price points. Card Factory is more affordable but you have to remember that Clintons hosts a lot of different brands / companies and therefore has different price points.

D.I.Y & Experience Gifts

There are many retailers where you can buy experience gifts from but that is not what I mean. Whether you are in a new relationship or have many years under your belt, why not chose an experience that's either new to you or a favourite of yours.
For example; Go back to where you met. I find a lot of couples say they met through friends at a pub / restaurant, on a night out or out for someone's birthday and I think it'd a really cute idea to go back to where you met (if you can). I know some couples will always go back to the same restaurant they met at or I know one couple who met at a mutual friends bowling birthday get together so they always go bowling. I just think it's a great way to reminisce and it doesn't necessarily have to cost a lot.

When it comes to D.I.Y gifts, Pinterest will be your best friend and I've featured quite a few on my Blog over the years. There are always things you can do that plays to your strengths. Are you good with words? Could you write a poem? Sing a song? Do you draw? Could you sketch them something they'd love? Something that is personal will always gain brownie points and again something to later reminisce about.

One idea I found on Pinterest are the Open When.... Letters. I may have brought this up before but it's something that you could use for any occasion. I think this suits a lot of couples whether your relationship is newer or you've been together for years. I love this idea for those who are away from each other a lot. I've read many comments of wives and husbands who have sent or packed letters like this for their partner who is in the army, marines or works on the road and away from home months at a time.

I found this with another 31 ideas on a website so Click Here to view it.

Over the years I've picked one maybe two retailers and highlighted their range for that year. However, this year I found that a lot of brands had their own unique selling points and decided to include three retailers in this year’s Cards post.

Bomb Cosmetics

I clicked onto their website to look at gift ideas when I came across their Valentines Range. If you are new to Bomb Cosmetics I'd look them up. They pride themselves on handmade and natural bathing, body care and home scent products. What's unique about their Valentines range is Bath Blaster cards. I don't know if any company has done something similar before but it's a completely new concept to me.
Although the variety is limited you still get cards that are:

 For Him & Her
For Couples & "Punny"

I’m really impressed by these and think they are a great little two in one gift / card combo. It's surprising that you don't see more of something like this outside of "Bathing" companies but at the same time I have more faith in their brand's promise of being all natural.
If you want to check them out yourself the Click Here.

Paperchase

This company is mostly known for stationery but do some lovely cards for any occasion. Their range isn't as big as other companies but there is variety amongst them. I’d say their unique selling points are food and animal puns. What gets my attention with this brand is the contrast between simplistic and busy designs without labelling them as husband, wife, partner...etc.

 Food Puns
 Animal Puns

A lot of the time I find people don’t like to buy cards with their relationship title on them, especially when the relationship is new. These designs show similar humour in different designs and no necessity for that label. I think they have a really affordable and inclusive card range, if you want to check them out then Click Here.

Card Factory

Card Factory is the biggest company out of the three with more than 900 stores across the UK & Ireland that equates to more than one store in most high-streets.
On the website you can personalise your cards with pictures and text but focusing on their in store cards their unique selling point will always be price. Most cards I pick up come from Card Factory, getting a lovely design and message for half the price as other retailers will always have an attraction and when it comes to Valentine's Day they like to match designs to gifts too.

Simplistic & "Punny"
Romantic & Funny

Unlike the previous two brands, Card Factory's range is larger because of titled cards so for those who like to have one saying for Wife, Husband...etc you will find one here. Covering romance, humour, puns, poems and simplicity this store is the best place for someone who doesn't know where to start, what they are looking for or are picking one up last minute. If you want to see the range yourself then Click Here

I'm back! As always I took most of January off apart from my Goodbye 2017, Hello 2018 post. I like to take a break and get ideas together on content I want to post on my blog this year, I have so much planned!

I was going to jump straight in with Valentines Day content but I had seen so many of these "My top products of 2017" or "My favourites of 2017" posts that I wanted to have a reflection of what I loved from last year.

Too Faced Born This Way Concealer - This is now my holy grail concealer. I purchased this along with a few other Too Faced products last May. Since then I have re-brought this a few times as it does wonders covering up my dark circles. If you have dark circles or suffer with fatigue this has a brilliant consistency, conceals and brightens with weightless full coverage.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara - I find a lot of volumising and lengthening mascaras clump on your lashes with more than one coat. I feel this gives you full and long lashes with just one coat but gives you an amazing falsies effect with two.

Colourpop Shock Blush - I love a rose pink blush and I found the perfect one with Colourpop. Their blushers have fantastic pigmentation and lasts all day. I was quite surprised how they glisten without being overloaded with shimmer. I really want to invest in this brand more over 2018.

Revlon Concealer - This is such a good alternative to the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer. For days where you are wearing lighter makeup, this gives you perfect coverage for around 6-8 hours so great for work or school. The only downside to this product is that the colour range isn't as diverse as the Too Faced Concealer.

StylPro Makeup Brush Cleaner & Drier - This is the most amazing makeup "gadget" I have ever brought. I picked this up in May and I haven't looked back. The StylPro in my opinion is the best thing to clean your makeup brushes with. If you click here you'll be able to see how the StylPro works and you'll probably get hooked too. It does take time to get the grips with it, like with most gadgets and/or products, but once you do you can clean and dry your brushes in one sitting whereas you'd usually leave your brushes to dry over night or longer.

Nip & Fab Toner - This was released towards the end of 2017 but has easily become the best toner I have ever used. I've done many posts about Nip & Fab skincare but I haven't reviewed this as of yet. I find this really hydrates my skin whilst shrinking my pores. I have larger pores on and around my nose and you wouldn't know if you saw me after doing my skincare regime. This doesn't sting either which I found happened quite a bit with other drugstore toners.

Korean Skincare - There are many brands that I have only tried one or two products from so I decided to umbrella them. Korean Skincare has been a topic amongst Bloggers & YouTubers for the past couple of years. There has always been products I've wanted to try but ultimately didn't give it a go until 2017. I was trying many different skin regimes with the least steps/amount of products because of cost and because I was worried about how many chemicals I was using. An off-putting factor for me with Korean Skincare was the 10 steps you take in the regime. How was I to know which products were doing it's best for me and if I was still having problems which step was it I needed to change / miss out. That then circles back to a cost build that I couldn't budget for. I decided to take the chance by starting with one thing at a time and I went with face masks because they are a great way to give the skin a lot of nutrition and blackhead removing products as they act as a now and then deep clean for your pores. They have been brilliant for me and my skin and I am looking forward to trying out more products in 2018.

The Good Doctor - I love a medical drama but I love them more when they have a unique quality. This series follows a resident surgeon with Autism and Savant Syndrome. We are only half way through the series and I cannot wait to see what it has to offer in terms of medical cases, personal story lines and character development. It has everyone in the states talking and I think it's safe to say it will be renewed for another season.

Mindhunter - If you didn't know I am a Criminology & Psychology graduate so when shows like this come about I become hooked. This series follows two men at the F.B.I and a psychologist who are building the concept of criminal psychology and criminal profiling by speaking to convicted serial killers. In some situations they even apply what they've learnt to real cases. Set in the late 1970's this so far has had some Hollywood dramatisation to it but ultimately explains the progress really well. This only has one season out, season two is to be released later this year and I'm super excited. This is only available on Netflix so if you don't have an account borrow a friends and if it is your cup of tea you'll end up binge watching this in a day.

NCIS: New Orleans - This has been going for a couple of years now but as a spin-off from the original NCIS series it started to build its own momentum from season three. Although the season started in September 2016 the build in the story line and ultimate series finale in spring 2017 is one of the best I've seen and I love the NCIS franchise. With the original series having 15 seasons under it's belt and no sign of slowing down it's safe to say NCIS: New Orleans will be going down the same path. With lead actor Scott Bakula and NCIS's Mark Harmon as an executive producer I predict some major love for the new spin-off.

I didn't include any films in this list as there were so many I loved from 2017 that this post would have gone on a bit. I have some ideas for posts surrounding my favourite films which will be coming soon.

I would love to know what your favourites from 2017 were so leave a comment below or catch me on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

I have 3 Valentines posts planned for the upcoming week which I am really excited about. I've been changing up my style a little bit so hopefully you'll like it and you'll get some ideas for your loved one if you celebrate Valentine's Day.

As always thanks for reading...
