How is it different to last years advent?

Last year was pirate themed, this year you have a city based design. I haven't seen a lot of Playmobil sets that are police themed. I usually see vehicles and the police figures so something like this is a great accompaniment to your child's collection.

Is it worth the money?

This year I am on the fence about Playmobil Advents but mostly because Playmobil is becoming harder to obtain. Most toy stores only stock a small amount in their locations and not everyone is an avid online shopper. With that in mind you may not get as many deals or promotions because you decided to shop in store. The contents are worth the money and it's a better for that age between the Thomas and Lego phases.
