With today's post I'm going to go through two very simple DIY's that not only adds personalisation but doesn't take up too much time and can be done as an activity with children.
Every year I always find small gifts and chocolates for my Mum, Dad & Brother, deciding that they would make great stocking fillers. The only issue is that my parents didn't have stockings and haven't for as long as I remember so I brought them and my brother some.
I picked up these gorgeous silver and reindeer print stockings in Poundland and decided to personalise them a little with a tag.
The Works do a three pack of wooden snowflake tags for £1, I decided to paint them white.
I actually used left over quick dry white gloss as I didn't have enough acrylic paint and would need several layers.
Once dry I used Microsoft Word to make round tags. I found this blue snowflake background on google images and it works well as our tree is Blue, Silver & White.
I printed onto sticker paper as I've found using glue makes it seep into the paper or card and drys looking wrinkly. I cut each one out using an xacto knife, stuck them in the centre of the snowflake and tied them onto the inside hook using grey and white twine from IKEA.
I think this adds a lovely personalised touch and would be a great idea for family, friends or even your child's friend. You and your child could paint a wooden tag, write down their friend's name and who it's from before attaching it to a stocking and filling with small toys and sweets.
When I ordered from The Works I purchased some photo baubles that were only priced at £1 each. I found that a great price for them a I usually see packs of 4 for around £6.
I've either made or brought baubles for family and friends children the past couple of years. I have done photo baubles before and I will continue to every few years as it creates a timeline of their growth.
I again used an xacto knife but instead printed on photo paper to get the best quality. I print a picture of them on one side and designed this Christmas 2017 image for the other.
This is how they ended up. I won't show the other side as they are not my pictures to share but I printed them in black & white which created a lovely effect against the snow I pop in. Because the image lays in the centre of the bauble rather than in a specific slot you could even use these baubles to fill with anything! Sweets, Chocolate, Collectables (Shopkins, Star Monsters, Lego Figures...etc) or use them to hold a printed gift like an E-Voucher or Receipt for Event Tickets.
These again didn't take a lot of time to do and you could get the children to draw images or write messages on a circular piece of card that would fit where the image goes, instead of printing something.
